On July 17, 2009 I will be part of a 22–mile relay team swimming from Rowes Wharf in downtown Boston, out among the Boston Harbor Islands, and finishing by the Boston Harbor Hotel. Last year I was a volunteer (and jumped in for a few unofficial minutes), but this year it's the real thing!
As you may know, Swim Across America is comprised of a very special group of recreational, Masters, and Olympic swimmers who take this important day off from work to swim for cancer research. Our small sacrifices are nothing compared to the daily struggle faced by cancer patients across the country.
I believe very much in the power of collective effort, and would hope that even in these tough times, you might be willing and able to support cancer research through my swim. Kindly consider a contribution in honor or memory of a loved one, in recognition of the progress yet to be made, and as a symbol of courage to those most in need.
