The Nantasket event features a recreational 1/2 m swim, and a one mile course for the more competitive swimmer. Along the shores of beautiful Nantasket Beach, this event grows every year and includes college swim teams, club teams, recreational and masters swimmers and people who feel like having fun and doing some good.  You may even meet a few Olympic Swimmers there.

Calling All Volunteers - Kayakers and Volunteers

This event wouldn't happen without the personal investment of our many volunteers.  Your generous time donation allows us to make it all possible.  Kayakers provide the first layer of safety for our swimmers. They patrol the swim course, keep an active eye on all our swimmers, and communicate any swimmers' issues to the Safety Director for immediate response. Land Volunteers help with set-up and break-down, and supporting our swimmers.   Click here to register to as a volunteer for this event.

Safety

Swim Across America makes swimmer safety the most important component of all of our swimming events. A Safety Director is responsible for coordinating all activities within an event, and works closely with both Police and Coast Guard representatives to ensure swimmer safety. In addition to Navigation, Swim, Police and Coast Guard boats, and 2 zodiacs ensure swimmer safety at all times.  All boats are able to communicate via both hand held and ship to shore radios. All swimmers are required to follow specific procedures to participate in the event. These procedures are designed to protect swimmers from injury and will be enforced by the Safety Director.

Teams

Teams have been formed to swim in honor or in memory of an individual. We also have Corporate teams, College teams, High School teams and triathlete teams. Last year swim teams from New England Small College Athletic Conference battled it out for the top fundraising team.  Can you beat them? Are you up for the challenge? Join the fun! See the team page for further information.

Water Conditions

Wetsuits are recommended. Average water temperature is 65* in July. Both events take place rain or shine.
