As most of you know, my mother, Denise Garvey, passed away on Sunday, June 8th after a long battle with cancer. She battled with the help of the professionals at the Cardinal Bernadin Center. Last year and the year before that, many of you generously contributed to my Lake Michigan swim, which benefited the Bernadin Center. On July 19th, 2008 I will once again be participating in Swim Across America's Lake Michigan Swim-a 1.5 mile fundraising swim in Lake Michigan dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention, and treatment at the Bernadin Center. I will be swimming on a Tribute Team--made up of 5 close friends--in honor of my mom.
