| San Francisco Bay Area Swim
September 25th, 2010

Registration Open! The San Francisco Bay swim is an SAA favorite. Swimmers take a boat from Pier 9 to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, a great scenic tour of the bay with time to bond with friends, old and new. We’ll jump in under the Golden Gate Bridge, a dramatic and unique entry point rarely experienced. Swimmers will head into Crissy Field Beach, a total of around 1.5 miles, depending on the tides. The morning concludes with a celebration at Crissy Field Beach (Swimmers not wanting to swim the full 1.5 mile can opt for our .5 mile course...Just register online, and then email gary@swimacrossamerica.org and let him know that you will be swimming the .5 mile). In 2009, the SF Bay swim raised over $230,000 and we know that we are going to make even more of an impact this year.
Sign up for this fun and inspiring swim!! Get family, friends and local businesses to sponsor you and raise money to support cancer research in our community.

A Safety Director is responsible for coordinating all activities within an event, and works closely with both Police and Coast Guard representatives to ensure swimmer safety. We will have the SF Police Dept out on the course with us, as well as a number of safety kayakers and 4 zodiacs to ensure swimmer safety at all times. · All boats are able to communicate via both hand held and ship to shore radios.Alll swimmers are required to follow specific procedures to participate in the event. These procedures are designed to protect swimmers from injury and will be enforced by the Safety Director.
