Why We Need Your Support
Team No Limits swims together as members of the Bainbridge Aquatics Masters Club. We have joined together to raise funds for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance because it is a leader in expediting the transfer of new diagnostic and treatment techniques from the research setting to patient care. This highly integrated approach to cancer research and treatment is essential to the development of new knowledge and treatment of cancers.
Our team captain, Linda Warren, is a pediatrician who will be swimming in memory of her former patient Faith Laird. Faith was a member of the Bainbridge Island Swim Club for most of her short life. She lost her struggle against cancer last year at the age of 17. Her care at the SCCA was the best she could have received anywhere . We need more research to learn how to help other teens in the future.
Beth Shipley, Linda's sister, will swim in honor of her childhood friend Ann MacEslin Stearns. Beth and Ann spent their childhood together in the pool at the YMCA in York, PA. A lifelong athlete, Ann spent seventeen years pioneering the corporate fitness program at the Johnson & Johnson Global Headquarters in New Jersey. Ann died of breast cancer in 2003 at the age of 42, leaving behind three preteen children.
Julie Shryock will swim in honor of precious family and friends who are waging the battles of their lives against cancer, in support of those who are survivors, and in loving tribute to those dear ones whose lives have been cut painfully short: Barby, Taffy and John.
Jan Ringo swims to honor those currently battling cancer and those that have survived its devastating effects. She has many friends and family members who have had cancer, and will be swimming in honor of all of them -- especially for her friend, Lynn Sinclair and in memory of her Mom, Bobbie Martin.
