“Until there is a cure for cancer, there will always be a reason to swim all across America.” - Matt Vossler, Co-Founder, SAA
Why You Should Support Us
On August 15, 2009, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory scientists Dr. Raffaella Sordella and Dr. Mikel Zaratiegui will be participating in Swim Across America’s 1-mile/5K/10K swim at Morgan Park in Glen Cove, NY to raise money for cancer research and treatment priorities. In 2009, proceeds from Nassau/ Suffolk SAA swimming events will support Dr. Sordella’s research on mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapy in non-small cell lung cancer at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Funding raised in these events will also support cancer research at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center-SAA Laboratory; the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore; Fighting Chance, a free Cancer Resource and Counseling Center in Sag Harbor; and the MIRACLE Pavilion at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre. Their swimming and fundraising efforts are nothing compared to the struggle cancer patients face every day. With your help, we have the chance to bring the cure closer. If you can help, you can make your donation online via the attached link or you can mail your tax-deductible contribution (payable to Swim Across America) to: Paula Smith Development Department Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory One Bungtown Road Cold Spring Harbor NY 11724
