CHICAGO SWIM IS CANCELLED-- Despite our best efforts to wish away the thunderstorms, we unfortunately need to cancel our swim this morning. It is with such a HEAVY heart, but the swimmers safety is our number one priority. Further communications will be coming out shortly.

Saturday, July 19, 2008 Ohio Street Beach - 8 am start time Swim Across America - Chicago is a non-competitive, open water swimming event in beautiful Lake Michigan. You can choose from several different distances to swim to reach your fundraising goal: 1/2 Mile, 1M, 1.5M or 3M. The ½ Mile and 1 Mile swims are out and back courses that parallel the lakefront bike and running path. The 1.5 Mile and 3 Mile distances traverse a triangular course. One lap is 1.5M, twice around is 3 miles. Swim as an individual OR have more fun by swimming with a team. Click on the Tribute Team tab to learn more about forming or joining a team. Why do we swim? Because we believe that swimming can cure cancer! Swim Across America is an event with a focus on raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment. All funds raised through our event here in Chicago are donated to the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center (CBCC) at Loyola University Medical Center. This year marks our 15th anniversary and to date, we have raised close to one million dollars for the CBCC! Help us Make Waves to Fight Cancer - register, volunteer or donate today. For more information about the CBCC and our Swim Across America research lab, click on the Beneficiary tab.
