Volunteer

You don't have to be a swimmer to "Make Waves to Fight Cancer." Volunteers are the backbone of the Swim Across America Family - Whether guiding swimmers safely to shore, captaining a boat, or kayaking beside a 6 mile swimmer in the last stretch of the course, volunteers ensure that our events run smoothly from beginning to end.

From their leadership and coordination to final contribution, the passion and energy of our volunteers is unmatched. We always look forward to adding more dedicated land-lovers to the SAA Family.

Land Volunteers: Land Volunteers staff all aspects of our event on land and at any pool swim.  Volunteer check-in begins early at most events with event set up, registration, and logistical support at the Finish Line on the beach and Awards Ceremony.

Boaters: Boaters provide crucial logistical support for all of our swimmers and Event Officials.  Our boaters line the perimeter of the swim lane and are available for additional support if needed.

Kayakers: Kayakers provide the first layer of safety for our swimmers. Kayakers patrol the swim lane, keep an active eye on all our swimmers, and communicate any swimmer issues to our event officials for immediate response.

Note: Not all volunteer types are needed at each event.
