David Sims

 David Sims

David Sims was a member of the 1980 Olympic team that was boycotted by the US. Luckily for David, he still had many years of swimming ahead of him to leave a lasting impression.  The following year he began attending Stanford where he was a member of the men's swim team and would go on to be Captain of their squad as a senior in 1984. While at Stanford, he was also an NCAA All-American all four years and won the Kiputh Award as a High Scoring Individual at Nationals in 1984. From 1980 until 1986, Sims was also a member of the USA National Team.

In addition to being an outstanding swimmer, David Sims has been awarded the Congressional Gold Medal which is bestowed upon people who perform an outstanding deed or act of service to the security, prosperity, and national interest of the United States. Today David still swims and was recently crowned as a Masters National Champion.  He works as a Principal at Lodging Capital Partners LLC in Chicago where he lives with his wife and four children.
