Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center

Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Missouri, is ranked among the top cancer facilities in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Comprising the cancer research, prevention and treatment programs of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, Siteman also is Missouri’s only member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

More than 350 Washington University physicians and scientists treat nearly 9,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients each year at Siteman, making it one of the largest cancer centers in the United States. Siteman offers patients a diverse spectrum of 375 therapeutic clinical trials, and more than one-third of newly diagnosed patients are enrolled in interventional trials, with 19 percent enrolled in therapeutic interventional trials. Care is provided at four locations: Washington University Medical Center, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital in Creve Coeur, Siteman Cancer Center–South County in south St. Louis County and Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Charles County.

In addition to treatment and research programs, Siteman pursues an active outreach program of cancer screening and education that annually involves tens of thousands of individuals throughout the region.
