September 17th, 2016

Welcome to the Swim Across America - Atlanta Open Water Swim.  Swimmers of all ages are invited to take part in our annual event in beautiful Lake Lanier. Whether you are a veteran swimmer or you're looking to do your first open water swim, we welcome you to help us fight cancer at the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

All swimmers raise money to support the cause, and those who feel particularly motivated to raise even more, can register as WaveMaker Swimmers.  We welcome you to help us "Make Waves to Fight Cancer!

There is no place in this part of our country as beautiful and unique as this lake. The lake provides for water sports, fishing and relaxing as is located 45 minutes north of Atlanta between 985 and 400.

  • 2 Mile Relay (up to 4 swimmers completing 1/2 mile loops)

Wetsuit Rental or Purchase

Wetsuits will most likely not be needed for the open water swim. Lake temperatures should be in the low 80's. We will post lake temperatures to the website in August. In the event you should need a wetsuit, we have partnered with wetsuitrental.com and All3Sports to provide wetsuits to our participants. Click here for wetsuit information.

A person may elect to swim alone, or be part of a team. Many colleagues and college alumni will form teams, or teams may be formed in honor or memory of a loved one.  All teams are inspirational and rewarding for all of us involved with Swim Across America. Companies looking to sponsor teams can do so for $5000.

Be a WaveMaker Swimmer

WaveMakers are elite SAA fundraisers. All swimmers raise at least $250 ($100 for children), but WaveMakers (WM) go above and beyond the call of duty by pledging to raise at least $1000. You can sign up to be a WaveMaker when you register but, even if you don't, you will automatically become one when you hit the $1000 mark. WMs get an exclusive WM dry fit shirt, worn by all SAA WaveMakers across the country. They also get access to the WM village on event day where they will have access to other perks and swag. Click here for more information.
