I am swimming this September to raise money for my treating clinic/hospital (Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta) and for the people who have helped and continue to help me live my life to the fullest. They are all different but equally awesome. They include Dr. Karen Wasilewski (who I love and admire; she is really fun and smart; she also shaved her head to raise money for childhood cancer research which means she is pretty cool and willing to do just about anything to help her patients), Dr. Sutton (who is my new oncologist even though she doesn't look old enough to be a doctor), Melissa Martin (she is the very best nurse practitioner and has done so much to take care of me for so long), Laura (my first nurse and friend - Caroline calls her Lara), Ashley (my tour guide), and all of the other nurses and support staff that have helped me. I am so excited to have a chance to swim and raise money for the very place and people that have helped to save my life. I have learned many things over the past 3 years. One of them is that time is precious. Don't take a single minute of your life for granted. And never forget that even though time has hands on the clock, its arms are too weak to rob anyone of hope or destroy their joy.
Thank you for considering making a donation to Aflac on behalf of our team! And, I hope to see you at Lake Lanier on September 23rd!
You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check to Swim Across America, c/o Nancy Peek, PO Box 1078, Tucker, GA 30085. Checks should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning my name as the swimmer you are supporting!
