High Tide Farm:

We will once again have the swim at the beautiful High Tide Farm at 5101 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122. The body of water we will be swimming in is the Redhouse Cove. It is a gorgeous cove with flat water making it very swimmer friendly!

The Course:

The swim course will be the same 1 mile loop as in years past. Swimmers have the option of a 1 or 3 mile swim. See above time line for start sequence.

3 mile swimmers will exit the water after each loop, take a brief jog on the sand and reenter the course. If you choose to swim 3 miles, you must complete your first 2 loops by 10:10 AM to reenter the course to complete the final mile. This will assure that we fulfill our obligation to clear the course for public use and assure that our wonderful volunteers can participate in the festivities.

This swim is non-competitive, though timing chips will be provided. It is mandatory that all swimmers have the timing chip on their ankle prior to entering the start pen.

Swim Across America makes swimmer safety the most important component of all our swimming events. A Safety Director is responsible for coordinating all activities within an event, and works closely with the local Fire, Police and EMT's to ensure swimmer safety. We will have a number of lifeguards, safety kayakers and safety boats out on the course with us to ensure swimmer safety at all times. All boats are able to communicate via both hand held and ship to shore radios. All swimmers are required to follow specific procedures to participate in the event. These procedures are designed to protect swimmers from injury and will be enforced by the Safety Director.

All swimmers and volunteers must complete the waiver found here. Please bring it with you to the event.

Directions and Parking:

For mapping purposes, you can use the address for the 5101 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122.

From the southern portion of the Baltimore Beltway #695, Take Rt. 10 South and follow signs to Rt. 100 (bears off to the left). Follow signs for Rt. 177 (also known as Mountain Road) and follow for approximately 3.75 miles at which point it bears off to the right (there is a sign & we will have lighted balloons at this location). From that point, it is 1.25 to the site which will be on the right.

There is ample parking in a large flat field at no cost. However, we ask that you consider car pooling to lessen the environmental impact and to avoid traffic congestion on the signal lane road. There will be two Policemen to control the traffic from Rt. 177 into the field. Look for lighted filled balloons as you approach the turn into the parking.
