I am really pleased to be part of SAA- Baltimore. This event supports the SAA lab at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. It's harder than ever for such researchers to raise money, and most of the grants they get are for "sure bets." With the roughly $500,000 that SAA has contributed to the lab per year the last five years, they have been able to pursue some cutting edge research, and make significant gains particularly with cervical and pancreatic cancers. This in particular brought home the lab's work to me, as my father died of pancreatic cancer.
My swim this year will be a "broken" 5.4 mile siwm. I swam in the 4.4 mile Chesapeake Bay Swim (19th time) in June. At the SAA event I will be an "Angel Swimmer", helping an inexperienced swimmer and do one 1-mile lap to round out my distance.
Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift!
You can make a credit card donation here- see "Donate" button to upper right, or if you prefer send a check made payable to Swim Across America Inc.; mail the check to me at:
2224 Crest Road, Baltimore, MD 21209 and I will forward it.
Thanks in advance!
