Dear Friends and Family,
I will once again be swimming in the Boston Harbor Islands Swim Across America event. As most of you know I have been the Event Director of the Boston Swims for over twenty years. In that time I have had friends, family and relatives diagnosed with cancer. I always had a feeling that one day my time would come and last year, I too was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am one of the lucky ones and I am currently cancer free.
Many people think why me? I guess I always thought, why not me? Though the more I think about it, the question really is “How do we prevent it?” That is the question I am hoping you can help solve. I'm hoping that friends, old and new, from near and far will join me and Team Kitty’s Kats to raise money for cancer research, treatment and prevention, so that together we can "Make Waves fighting cancer!"
The funds raised through this event will benefit Massachusetts General Hospital for Children and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. They are two terrific beneficiaries and I'm thrilled to give back each and every year. As NIH and other government funds are harder and harder get, non-profits like Swim Across America are desperately needed to fill in the funding gaps. We need to and will find a cure.
I am happy to report that I have completed my treatment and am now cancer free! Thanks to the simply amazing work and life-saving cancer research that is being done each and every single day at both of these world-class hospitals in our very own city of Boston.
Wish me luck and remember that every dollar counts...no gift is too small! I know that you get lots of these requests and already donate generously to many wonderful causes, so I am especially appreciative of any support you can offer. You can sponsor me via by making a credit card donation here or by mailing checks made payable to Swim Across America to me at 30 Bullard St. Walpole, MA 02081
Thank you in advance and have a great summer!
