Hi!!!! I am very excited to prepare for my first Swim Across America Event on September 23rd at the Lake Norman Y Beachfront. The Levine Cancer Institute is tthe beneficiary of thei swim. All of us either have zero or one degree of separation to cancer. Too many of our friends, and relatives are getting sick, Doctors need money to get the research done to do more than have cancer be a chronic disease. They need funding to find the root problem and eliminate cancer. I have seen first hand at the Levine Cancer Institute the passion for reaching the finish line and eliminating cancer.
I am the Head Coach at Mecklenburg Swim Association Masters in Charlotte and I am Captain of Team Out of My Box. Brian was on our team. Everyone on this team will swim in honor of Brian Miller, teammates who have had cancer , friends, relatives, and Brian's friend Anne Lynn (10 year survivor of Stage 4 Lung Cancer). Brian was a huge inspiration to us all as he battled his Stage 4 Lung Cancer.
In the early stages of treatment Brian was convincd to enter his first swim meet. At the time Brian and at age 58 had never been in a swim meet. He was so intimidated by the though of being in the meet he said, " I am so far out of my box, I can't see my box anymore!" Through his strength, grace and courage in facing his cancer MSA Masters uses this as our inspiration to get out of the pool and into a lake! For some this will truly be an out of the box experience!!!!
This is a great cause, in memory of a great person and I would sure appreciate your support!!!!
