On June24th, I will be swimming in my 3rd Greenwich Stamford Open Water Swim for Swim Across America. While each year the Greenwich High School Swim community has come together to put forth our commitment and love for swimming to make a positive difference in the community, a tradition that I quickly grew to cherish, this year holds a special place in our hearts as we swim in honor and memory of Julian Fraser.
In the spring of 2016, Julian was diagnosed with Osteosarcmo. TEAM JULIAN was created to demonstrate our love and support for Julian. Sadly, in February of this year, Julian passed away at the age of 20 after a tough 10 month battle. Julian, an alumni of the GHS Varsity Swim team and Varsity Water Polo, was and continues to be an inspiration our community, as he encompassed the qualities of a true role model with his resilence, positivity and drive in and out of the pool.
As a member of TEAM JULIAN, each of us are challenging ourselves to raise as much money as we possibly can, to hopefully reach our team goal of funsraising $100,000. Achieving this would make TEAM JULIAN the top fundraisers in 2017, in hope that one day no one will have to endure what Julian went through.
Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure for cancers like Julian's. Any and all donations can and will make a difference. Thanks for your support and genorosity! Together we can make waves and get that much closer to a cancer-free world!
