On Saturday, July 29th, I will be swimming to raise money for the fight against cancer. This year, I will be swimming on Team Cheryl, in memory of Cheryl Ann Sweeney.
Cheryl battled cancer for many years before passing away in December of 2015. My connection to Cheryl was through my sister Monique, but she became a dear friend of the family. Cheryl had the unique ability to make whoever she met, feel like the most important person in the world. Cheryl listened intently, loved deeply, laughed brilliantly, and smiled with grace through it all. The world lost an Angel too soon with Cheryl's passing from cancer.
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming in the Long Island Sound Open Water Swim.
The members of team Cheryl are mostly women and men from Scarsdale who I swim with at the Scarsdale pool in the early mornings. However, we welcome anyone who wishes to swim as a member of Team Cheryl.
If you can't participate in the swim, please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check directly to Swim Across America, P.O. Box 217, Larchmont, NY 10538. Please help me honor Cheryl's memory by being part of the solution to ridding the world of cancer.
