This year we are swimming in honor of our beloved grandmother, Kathleen Carello, who passed away March 2014 at the age of 71 from liver cancer. Kathy came to America in 1961 from Belfast, Ireland and worked at the Quaker Ridge Golf Club for over 35 years. She had five children and ten grandchildren who loved her dearly, as well as countless others in the community whose lives she impacted. She exemplified selflessness, care, and compassion in every aspect of her life. "11 North" stands for the home where she lived almost all of her life in New Rochelle, which was always warm, welcoming place for both friends and family. We swim to keep her memory of love and strength alive, along with the memories of our late grandfathers, John Carello and Tom Freeman, as well as the memories of Kathryn Liptack, James Kearney, Mary Bishop, Amy Nessel, Tom Murray, Andrea Marvin, Eve Kessler, Patricia DeVerna, Margaret Conroy, Megan Treganowan, Jane Doherty, and Rudolph Mauriello, and to help find a cure for others battling cancer. As well, we are swimming in honor of Susan Doherty, Albina Rade, Richard Rade, Kevin Doherty, Rob Doherty, Maeve Doherty, and Megan Mukerji whom all have successfully beaten cancer. Lastly, we will be swimming in honor of Helen Esposto who is in the midst of her battle. We appreciate any donation, as even a little can go a long way. Thank you!
