For this year’s Swim Across America event, Team Cheryl will be swimming in memory of Cheryl Ann Sweeney. Cheryl was a lifelong resident of Sayville, New York who battled cancer for over 10 years before passing away in December 2015 at the age of 52. Cheryl was the beloved wife of Robert Sweeney and mother of Payton Sweeney, as well as the cherished daughter of Joseph and Joan Pisculli and dear sister of Renee Pisculli, and best friend to a multitude.
Cheryl was a kind and generous soul who always placed others before herself. She was loved and admired by everyone who met her. Cheryl's gift in life was to lift the spirits of the people she encountered. Her zest, her style, her strength and her beauty will always be with us!
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. We joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. We are challenging ourselves by swimming in the Long Island Sound Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as we can. Please support us by sponsoring our swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
