Hi Friends and Family-
On September 17 I’m, once again, jumping into the Bay (from a boat) and swimming 1.75 miles from mid-span of the Golden Gate Bridge to Little Marina Green. Please help me make waves to fight pediatric cancer and support pediatric cancer survivors. All contributions will be put to very good use, Together we can help fund better treatments for pediatric cancer. Any amount that you feel comfortable contributing is greatly appreciated.
This year is my 10th year of participating in Swim Across America events and volunteering on the organizing committee for the Bay Area swim. I am dedicating my swim to my friends that are currently fighting cancer, to my friends and family that are cancer survivors, to name a few, my friend Susan Helmrich, young Avery Henderson, my cousin Karyn and my nephew Kirk, and Sharon B. and I'm swimming in memory of my friends Kevin, Louis, Sue, Mary and Joanne and both of my parents who lost their battle to cancer.
Last year you helped me raise over $10,000! I usually try to find a reason for the amount that I'm trying to raise... Last year it was 10 years of being cancer free. This year I retired from teaching high school mathematics.... I think $26,500 (I taught for 26.5 years) might be a bit ambitious and $2650 is not ambitious enough... So for right now, my goal is to raise as much money as I can for Swim Across America.
I have been cancer free for the last 11 years and was officially fired by my oncologist in August of 2011. It was a big weight that was lifted from my shoulders. Please help me celebrate good health by supporting Swim Across America! Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
I am sending this hoping that you might consider donating, volunteering or swimming with me. There is nothing, quite like swimming in the bay... an amazing experience for an amazing cause.
With Much Love,
