Dear Friends and Family,
It’s time again to pick up the googles and take up the fight against childhood cancer. This battle is always worth fighting and I am grateful to still be able to wage it. I hope that you will join me.
Last year my training was shortened due to hurricane Harvey, but I did not miss the event and got to witness a joyous concert by a three-year old boy that had just finished his chemo treatments. It was a beautiful thing to see his mom, dad and the others cheering him on while he sang “Life is a Highway” and many other songs. That boy was singing so much more to us than he could realize at such a tender age.
We will be swimming once more in the San Francisco Bay from the Golden Gate Bridge to Chrissy Field. This will be my seventh time. It is always a thrill to swim 1.5 miles in the brisk bay with a bunch of fun, dedicated people. Many are cancer survivors, adults and even youth, who inspire me to keep going.
The event sponsor, Swim Across America, directs proceeds to the cancer research departments of UC San Francisco's Benoiff Children's Hospital in San Francisco and Oakland. Dr. Rob Goldsby and Dr. Julie Saba are among the doctors on the front lines utilizing the funds to eradicate pediatric cancer every day.
Please support ths cause by making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you and may we live to see a cancer-free world!
