This year is the seventh year that Shira my wife and the mother of Ellie and Simon succumed to her 7 year battle with Luekemia. Shira's fought this terrible disease with dignity and her spirit continues to be an insipiration to me and others to find a cure. Her courage and story is insipirational and has motivated me for the 3rd year in a row to participate in the Swim Across America event in San Francisco this September. As in my previous swims, I am dedicating my swim to Shira. This year, I will be also dedicating my swim to a dear old friend of Shira's and mine, Peter D. Peter and his family are currently fighting their battle with cancer and thoughts of both Shira and Peter will inspire for each stroke of the 1.75 miles in the San Francisco Bay.
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming in the San Francisco Bay Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
