This September 22nd, we are taking on the thrilling and bone-chilling challenge of swimming 1.75 miles in the open water from the Golden Gate Bridge to Yacht Harbor Beach in San Francisco. I will be participating in the 13th annual Swim Across America event to support cancer research and patient care to two local beneficiaries, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco Survivors of Childhood Cancer Program.
This swim will be in memory of my beloved grandparents, Joanne Jamison Rowlett and Robert Wright Read, who raised me to be the strong-willed, passionate individual that I am today. My grandmother was an artist and activist who had colon cancer, esophageal and brain cancer and my grandfather, a heroic saint of a human being, battled sarcoma and brain cancer at the end of his life. May we have the opportunity to share long, healthy lives with our loved ones
We are fundraising $7,000 this year to support UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. As we are all a part of the main (achem, drop in the ocean), we are reaching out to you for support in accomplishing this fundraising goal and in investing efforts for cancer research, prevention and treatment.
Please join us in the collective fight against cancer so that we may change the fate our loved ones who battle the disease in the future.
