I swam for the second time in the Baltimore Swim Across America, held the weekend of September 16 as part of the Mind Body Physical Therapy Team. I swam on Friday, as I had a committment on Saturday- but I did it as you can see from the picture! Made it in 48 minutes -2 minutes under my goal of 50 minutes.
I joined the Mind Body Physical Therapy Team last year, as they have helped me to feel stronger and healthier. Your donations go towards the work being done at the Swim Across America Lab at Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine. Since 2010, the Baltimore Swim Across America has raised over 2.6 million dollars and has been instrumental in bringing Keytruda, an immunotherapy cancer drug to the market.
I'm hoping to raise even more money this year, as my family and friends have continued to be challenged by cancer, particularly in the last two years. If you have someone you want me to honor or swim in memory of, please let me know and I will add their name to my bathing cap when I make my mile swim!
Due to your support, I raised $2953, coming in third for personal donations at the pool swim, and helping the Mind Body Team come in first with monies raised! The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
