On Friday July 7th, I will be participating in the 25th Annual Swim Across America Pool Swim at the New York Athletic Club in Pelham Manor, N.Y. I’m swimming as a volunteer for Cancer Support Team, one of the beneficiaries of Swim Across America Long Island Sound, of which this swim is a part.
Cancer Support Team (CST) provides free nursing care, social work counseling, case management and other cancer related supportive services to people affected by cancer who live in lower Westchester. CST helps people of all socioeconomic backgrounds regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay. The number of people calling CST continues to increase every year. CST served 813 patients and their families making 3699 home visits in 2016.
We all know cancer stinks. And, I know we all give to organizations that are fighting to find a cure. CST is unique in Westchester and indeed is unique in cancer care in general. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of cancer patients and their families—to ease the burden of those who are fighting the disease and those who live with and care for them. So, I am swimming to raise money for CST, which is funded in full through grants and donations.
I’d like to raise as much money as I can to support CST’s work with local cancer patients and their families. And for that I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to this cause. You can make your donation to my fundraising effort right here on this website. Or, if you prefer to write a check, just let me know and I will get in touch with you directly.
Thank you so very much for your support.
