NYAC Travers Island Pool Swim

Team CST

Dear Family and Friends,

On Friday July 7th, 2017 at 6:30 pm, I will be participating in the Swim Across America Pool Swim at the New York Athletic Club in Pelham Manor, N.Y. I am employed as a Registered Nurse Counselor at Cancer Support Team (“CST”), one of the beneficiaries of Swim Across America Long Island Sound. CST provides free nursing care, social work counseling, case management, and other cancer related supportive services to people affected by cancer who live in lower Westchester. The number of people calling CST has increased over the past six years. CST served over 813 patients and their families in 2016 - with 3.699 home visits and 732 volunteer rides.

Team CST is a group of staff members along with supportive family and friends who are participating in Swim Across America for the 8th year. We swim as a symbol of our commitment to our organization, and as a tribute to the patients and the families we serve.

I am seeking swimmers to join our Team. You don’t have to qualify for the Olympics, whether you swim one lap or a mile we would love to have you join us. To register as a swimmer, go online to http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/goto/TeamCST or call 914-777-2777 and we can give you more detailed information and answer any questions.

You may also donate on-line through our Team’s page using a credit card or you may write a check payable to “Swim Across America” and send it to SAA, P.O. Box 217, Larchmont, NY 10538. Kindly put “Team CST/Katie Shields” in the memo section of your check.

If you cannot swim with us on July 7th and still want to join Team CST, you can swim at any of the other seven pools or the Long Island Sound Open Water on Saturday, July 29.

I thank you in advance for your help with this most worthwhile cause.

Most sincerely,
Katie Shields
