Join the Nittany Lions as they Fight Cancer with Swim Across America. Everyone's life has been impacted by cancer which is why we're swimming to help "Make Waves to Fight Cancer" and raise money for cancer research, prevention and treatment.

WHAT: Come participate in fun relays or a 1-hour straight swim with the PSU Nittany Lions. Any and all who would like to attend, participate or donate are invited to join them in raising money to support cancer research with Swim Across America!

The Nittany Lions are participating in the event on behalf of former Penn State associate athletic director, senior woman administrator and Penn State’s inaugural women’s swimming and diving head coach Ellen Perry. Perry started the women’s club swimming program and, in 1970, became Penn State’s first women’s swimming and diving coach. At the helm from 1970-1981, she guided the program to a .790 winning percentage in 124 dual meets and her swimmers earned seven All-America honors. Penn State’s associate athletic director and senior woman administrator from 1989-2002, she played a significant role in the growth of women’s athletics on campus. Under her tutelage, the Nittany Lions’ women’s programs won 14 national championships in six sports, 17 Big Ten regular season championships and nine Big Ten tournament titles. Perry passed away in March 2014.
