Nantucket Island Open Water Swim

Saturday, August 23rd, 2014

Swim Across America began as a relay swim from Nantucket to Hyannis and has evolved to 16 open water swims and dozens of pool swims around the country. We are thrilled to continue the wonderful tradition of SAA in Nantucket as we swim and raise money for local beneficiaries; Nantucket Cottage Hospital and Palliative and Supportive Care of Nantucket (PASCON). Join us for a 1/2 mile or 1 mile distance, or join the Kids' Splash and get in on the action this August!

Register before June 1st with a registration fee of $25! The fee will increase to $50 on June 1st!

General Information

Swimmers & Teams:

A person may elect to swim alone, or be part of a team. Many colleagues will form corporate teams, or teams may be formed in honor or memory of a loved one.  All teams are inspirational and rewarding for all of us involved with Swim Across America.  Through swimming events such as ours, teams clearly demonstrate our commitment to find a cure. All teams must have at least 3 swimmers on them.

All swimmers must be a minimum age of 11. Swimmers aged 9 or 10 must be reviewed by the race director prior to the event date.

You can register as either a Swimmer or a WaveMaker Swimmer.

WaveMaker Swimmer - A WaveMaker Swimmer is someone who wants to go above and beyond the fundraising minimum! WaveMakers are signing up to raise $1000 by event day.  By pledging to raise this much in advance, we will award all WaveMakers who reach this goal with a special gift at the event.

Swimmer - A swimmer is required to raise $200 by event day.  They will receive a tshirt and towel for their fundraising efforts.

After choosing which type is right for you, you can choose your distance. You can choose from 1/2 mile or 1 mile distances.

There is a registration fee that will be credited towards each swimmer's fundraising minimum after registering.

Register before June 1st with a registration fee of $25
Register between June 1st and July 15th with a registration fee of $50
Register on or after July 15th with a registration fee of $75

Kids' Splash

Swimmers ages 7-11 (exceptions made by the race director) are invited to join us for a Kids' Splash before the 1 milers start their swim! Kid swimmers will swim a short swim (about 50 yards) in the water to take part in the event. Kids must be able to swim 50 yards to enter the swim.

There is a $25 registration fee to take part in the Kids' Splash and we ask that you do try to sign up ahead of time. We also encourage kids taking part in the splash to raise $50 total ($25 fee included). To register, click on the register on the home tab. Then you'll be able to select the Kids' Splash option.

Giving:

All donations are tax-deductible. Your fundraising efforts from the swim will support Nantucket Cottage Hospital and Palliative and Supportive Care of Nantucket. Fore more information click here.

You may support the swimmer of your choice by making an online donation. Or you may send a check, payable to Swim Across America, to the address below.

Transportation/Lodging

Nantucket is easily reachable year round by ferry boat or plane service. During the busy summer season, the town encourages visitors to limit bringing their cars over by providing a seasonal shuttle system giving the community an essential transportation option around the island. There are miles of town maintained by bike paths, town owned beaches & beautiful harbors for moorings all enhancing the experience on the island. From the beautiful sunsets o Madaket to the charming small village of Siasconset, the public can view the beautiful landscapes, historic homes or wide spread beaches until reaching their special and personal Nantucket destination.
