Out of unthinkable loss comes triumph. Team Amazing Grace was formed to celebrate the unstoppable, amazing Grace Bunke. "We swim to honor Grace. We swim because she can’t. We swim for a better future in which someone like Grace is alive and well and swimming with us. We swim because hope has no finish line."

Vicki Bunke plans to swim in 14 of the Swim Across America open water events in honor of Grace who lived for 14 years and swam in 14 swim meets during that time. In her words: "We swim to honor Grace. We swim because she can’t. We swim for a better future in which someone like Grace is alive and well and swimming with us.
We swim because hope has no finish line. Nor will it ever."
Grace Bunke battled osteosarcoma - an aggressive form of bone cancer - for nearly four years and while she underwent treatment including a partial leg amputation and two lung operations she transitioned from running track to swimming. Grace never let the cancer stop her. She quickly excelled at swimming making the US Paralympic Team and her varsity high school swim team as a freshman. Last year she took to open water swimming and participated in SAA-Atlanta. She bravely and publicly battled cancer with her trademark nickname “Amazing Grace” and quote “Prayer is asking for rain; faith is bringing an umbrella.” Grace Bunke passed away on March 25, 2018, the day before her 15th birthday.
The money raised by the Amazing Grace Swim Across America tour will fund a cancer research project that will be granted in the name of Amazing Grace Bunke.
