Everyday, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer but only 4 cancer drugs have been approved for use on children. Sadly, 1 out of 8 children will not survive.
Granted as a 10th birthday gift, our founding member, Max Farmer, swam in his 1st Atlanta Open Water event for Swim Across America in 2006. Inspired by his example, others joined!
Soon, the team adopted the moniker - Team Parker - in honor of their friend, Parker Solberg, a patient at C.H.O.A. being closely monitored for a non-treated brain tumor.
As a Swim Across America team, it is our goal to raise money and awareness for cancer research, treatment, and prevention through a variety of fundraising activities; Donations, Spirit Nights, and various Community Events.
Cancer is the #1 leading cause of death by disease among children.
