My name is Jaime Matherson and I am swimming with Swim Across America to support cancer reserach. I lost my grandmother, Polly Matherson, and my uncle, Harry Mansmann, to cancer. My family and I were very sad to see such special people pass away.
That's why I am swimming with Swim Across America this August. I know that my efforts will support cancer research and help people with cancer.
The swim is hard (1 mile in open water) but nothing is harder than battling cancer.
This will be my forth year on the Junior Advisory Board for Swim Across America in Atlanta. I was selected for my leadership skills to represent my school at the event. I am organizing a team of swimmers to participate. If you would like to join my team, please do! My team's name is APS (Atlanta Public Schools) and you can sign up on this webpage. If you would like to sign up for my team you need to pay the $50 dollar registration fee and raise an additional $200 if your under 18. If your over 18 you have to raise an additional $400. All money raised in the atlanta area goes to childrens cancer research.
If you can't swim on my team, maybe you would consider supporting my efforts with a donation to Swim Across America in my name. I would really appreciate your support.
To my friends and family that I have not seen in some time, I miss all of you. I am enjoying living in Atlanta but I miss California very much especially not being able to swim outside all year long!
