Welcome to my Fundraising page. I am Lily Alderman. As you may know, I’m a competitive swimmer and this is my third year doing saa. Cancer is a leading cause of death in the world. Each year 12.7 million people are diagnosed with cancer. Cancer ends 7.6 million of those people’s lives. Swim Across America is trying to prevent this, and with the help of you guys, it could. On September 28, I am participating in the 5k open water race at Lake Lanier. This is why I swim. Cancer takes the lives of people of all ages. A few years ago, my family lost my grandfather to cancer. More recently, I heard about Grace Bunke and her story, I learned a lot from her, even though I never knew Grace or even met her. She was a great kid that decided to make the most of her life. Amazing Grace really was amazing in my eyes and many other people’s. This is why I am on the team I chose, to support Amazing Grace and Julie Granger. Julie Granger was also diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. She had to go through surgeries and tough recoveries. Five weeks after surgery she completed a 1 mile open water swim. Swim Across America gives me 3.1 miles of doing what I love most for a great cause. One of Grace’s wishes was to be the top fundraiser. I can’t wait to raise as much money as I can and make waves to fight cancer and cross the finish line in September. Amazing Grace and Take That Benedict keychains will be for sale for $5 to support SAA. I hope you will consider donating to this cause if you can. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check to Swim Across America, c/o Nancy Peek, PO Box 1078, Tucker, GA 30085.
