Working in pediatric oncology is just as horrible as you would expect but it is also more magical than you could ever imagine. Some days are filled with heartache and pain but some days are filled with laughter and cheers.
One thing that remains constant is that children keep getting cancer! Each day 43 children are diagnosed with cancer, 12% of them will not survive. 60% of the children that survive cancer will suffer things such as infertility, heart failure and secondary cancers.
Only 4% of the National Cancer Institute’s budget goes to childhood cancer. 4%, that is literally nothing! Our children deserve so much more than that!
That is why I am joining Swim Across America to raise money for Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
I am challenging myself by swimming 3.1 miles in the Atlanta Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can.
Please support me by sponsoring my swim. The money you give will go towards childhood cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
