Making Waves To Fight Cancer!
Hi! My name is Nell Chetrit, I am 16 years old, and I go to Walton High School. I have been swimming for almost all my life and joined SAA to help use my swimming skills to fight for a cause that is close to me. This will be my 4th year participating in SAA on Team Amazing Grace. This is a very important year for me, February of this year my grandpa passed away of lung cancer. And our dear family friend, Debbie early September 2021. She fought hard, she was such a strong and inspiring woman. These two incredible and courageous people impacted my life tremendously, and I will swim in honor of them this October. Normally I would stick to swimming the 1 mile, but I am challenging myself to swim the 5k this year in honor of my grandpa, Debbie, Grace Bunke and all my beloved friends, relatives, and people that are battling cancer.
Grace Bunke, a 14 year old girl, battled osteosarcoma, a very aggressive form of bone cancer. She was a swimmer who kept swimming even through times were hard. She was an inspiration, she inspired me to persevere even when times get rough, and never give up hope. I joined SAA support her and now to continue her battle against cancer. I am honored to be swimming on Team Amazing Grace yet again. Let's beat cancer together.
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming in the Atlanta Open Water Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
