While being self-isolated to help avoid the spread of Covid19 at this terrifying time in our lives, I have been looking toward an important cause that needs our attention.
This year, I am planning to again join the Swim Across America community to work in some small way to help bring change and hope to the huge number of people who will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
I am planning to join in the Atlanta Open Water Swim on September 26th, 2020 to swim a mile as part of Swim Across America and raise as much money as I can to fund research for treatments against childhood and adult cancer.
When I swam last year, I was inspired by the number of young people who had marked their bodies with the names of family members, teachers and friends they were remembering. Just being around these young, committed swimmers made me realize that we were swimming for a common goal to ensure that more children had a chance to enjoy their youth!
If possible, please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift to Swim Across America. The money you give will go towards local cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure.
Funds raised from these swims support local childhood cancer research and clinical trials. Thanks to the strong partnerships between Swim Across America, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, clinical trials are underway to help adult patients with AML, and will be starting in pediatrics later this year!
You can make a credit card donation online or if you prefer to send a check, please make it payable to Swim Across America and mail it to:
