Hi everyone!!
Welcome to my Swim Across America Page!! I am super excited to be apart of the Swim Across America Junior Advisory Board this year while also being co-captain for team Smasherson. I have been participating in Swim Across America for the past 7 years and I am looking forward to making this my 8th year! Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. SAA has given me the opportunity to do what I love while helping others fight cancer!!
I encourage anyone whether they only have swam in summer league, are experienced competitive swimmers, or have never even gotten into a pool before to get involved in Swim Across America. If you want to swim, you can choose what distance you swim (5k, 1 mile, .5 mile) or you can just be a volunteer! There are many positions you can help with such as being a kayaker, helping in concessions, etc. It is hosted at a beautiful venue called Lake Lanier Olympic Park. This day is very impactful to everyone who is there, whether being a swimmer, parent, volunteer, or patient.
If you are thinking about joining, join our team "Team Smasheron"! Everyone is welcomed no matter what skill level. This team is in honor of Emerson Podojil, best friend of co-captain Sydney Riepe, who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma and passed away at the end of 5th grade. Click on Team Smasheron to learn more about her story and how you can help still make an impact on the lives of those around her.
This year, I am swimming for: Ryan Walsh, Nana, Leah Anderson, Grace Bunke, Emerson Podojil
Please help me make waves to fight cancer!!
