Hey Emory family, we’re excited to participate in this year’s Swim Across America Open Water 5K Swim raising money for cancer researchers right across the street from us at the WoodPEC! This year we have set the goal to again be the top collegiate fundraiser nationally!
We would love it if you donated to our team page and helped us reach (and surpass) our goal! Any amount is greatly appreciated and is going toward groundbreaking research right on campus!
All of us have been impacted by cancer in some way including members of our team, our families, and our friends. It means a great deal to us and them knowing that we're swimming to save lives! We hope you'll join us!
This year is of special significance to all of us who have had the opportunity to swim alongside senior Nolan Lahmann. On June 2, 2005, Nolan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at just 2 years old, beginning his fight against cancer. After three years of IV sticks, spinal taps, bitter medications, and injections he finished chemotherapy. Thanks to the unrelenting work of researchers and doctors and Nolan's indomitable spirit he was declared cured of cancer in 2015. Because of organizations like Swim Across America, Nolan has had the opportunity to be an NCAA champion, an All-American 100 backstroker, a first-team academic All-American, and a future physician.
As a team, we are thrilled to support Swim Across America which provides early-stage funding for clinical trials that give children, just like Nolan, a chance at a full and healthy life.
We thank you for your generosity in joining us in the fight against cancer!
