Welcome to Daisy's SAA personal page!
Hello friends & colleagues!
In mid-September, I will be swimming in my 14th Open Water Swim Across America being held again at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Collectively, we swim to raise awareness & to support the SAA Research all over the US. Locally, we support the SAA Lab at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in Baltimore where significant advancements in immunotherapy are being made, but there is so much more work to do, so we soldier on. As in past years, we swim in honor of those stricken with cancer and those whom we have lost.
This year, 2023, I swim for:
Ken Zuber, is working through year 2 of cancer treatments. It’s difficult … Vicki and Ken have the new distraction of moving to a new house in Santa Fe and are supported by many new Santa Fe friends... We continue to stand by your side Ken! I wish Gavin and I were closer!
Claudia will be working on finishing her treatments to beat this Stage 3 Breast cancer!
Joanne Newman, continues to keep her battles with cancer at bay and she is painting a lot and enjoying great response to her work.
Adam Melkon Debus, Adam's son continues to take one day at a time, the cancer treatments are being tweaked and he working on add back some weight. His battle continues.
Tammy Greentree, has continued to get good reports back!
Matt LaMotte has just gone through major cancer surgery, and if you know Matt like I do, his optimism is contagious.
John Godbey, is my friend Gary’s brother who was just (suddenly) diagnosed with Colon cancer… He is in my thoughts and prayers and maybe Johns Hopkins’ success with colon cancer treatments with help him too!!!
Sadly, I swim in memory of Iku, my hair stylist for over 42 years, as he lost his battle recently. He was such a gentle person.
I am happy to report that our dear friend’s who’s daughter who is dealing with breast cancer responded well to treatments this past year and her doctors are able to say that the prospects are looking very promising,
All of these friends above have been courageously fighting their individual battles and we pray for remissions for all! I admire each one of these amazing friends and add them to the list of all of those whom I have honored in the past 13 years.
Know that those of you that I have highlighted in the past are still in my heart and prayers…, I still still swim for you and you continued well-being!!!
So, it would be wonderful if you can support this effort to help me exceedmy goal this year and each gift of any size makes a difference…Just click on the link to donate on this site…
Thank you!!
