Join Me as I Swim to Raise Money for Cancer!
This summer I'm swimming to raise money for cancer by participating in three races - a 3 mile swim for the Swim Across America event in Baltimore on September 15, the 2.5 Mile Potomac Crossing June 2nd, and the Great Chesapeake Bay 4.4 Mile Swim on June 9th. So far, I'm one for two for these swims, completing the Potomac Crossing, but missing out on the Great Bay Swim, as Mother Nature had other plans, and the Coast Guard cancelled the race due to strong winds and currents.
Founded in 1987, Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. Since then, Swim Across America has raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care. Funds raised by my swim will go towards research at Johns Hopkins, in particular immunotherapy and targeted therapy treatments.
I joined Swim Across America because I believe in their mission. I'm swimming in memory of my dad, who passed away from melanoma this past year, and to raise awareness for breast cancer screening, which is so much easier to treat when detected earlier.
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
