Baltimore Open Water Swim

Team Hopkins Bayview

At Team Hopkins Bayview we swim to honor family, friends and colleagues who have battled cancer.  Johns Hopkins Bayview was home to the first Johns Hopkins Oncology Department, and it is where the first bone marrow transplants were developed. We are proud of our heritage and we support the continuing advances in cancer treatment that are being developed here at Johns Hopkins.

Each of us on Team Hopkins Bayview share the experience of cancer striking someone we love, and some team member are survivors themselves.  We know the pain that cancer causes, yet we see the promise of new therapies that are already making an impact.  All are welcome! We swim in fellowship, raising funds to support development of the next cancer treatments at the Johns Hopkins Swim Across America Laboratory.

Every year we have a couple of open water swims in the Chesapeake, followed by an amazing pot luck breakfast.  We set the course so beginners can get comfortable with opent water.  You can easily get to shallow water to rest, or bail out completely at any time.  For those who are non-swimmers there is even a program available at Meadowbrook, beginning in May, that will get you to a level of proficiency where you can swim a mile.

Come on in, the water is fine - we invite you to join us!
