I've been a proud participant in the SAA Boston events since 2006. Each year I recruit swimmers, volunteers, friends and family to help raise funds to support cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Mass General Hospital for Children Cancer Center. After many years jumping off big boats to swim in the harbor, we're returning for a 2nd year in our new Boston venue: Castle Island at Pleasure Bay.

The SAA Boston events are some of my favorite activities each year. Here's why I participate:

- The people are inspiring! From the patients undergoing cancer treatments, to the incredible doctors and nurses who work tirelessly for a cure, to my fellow athletes (both young and old) who find friendship and fulfillment through the sport of swimming, I always look forward to these annual gatherings.

- Even though we're small fish in a big pond, WE ALL CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE TOGETHER. If we each do our part, no matter how small, the world will be a better place.
