This is a BRILLIANT event to support cancer research. I am now a 12 year survivor, and count many many survivors in my circle. Sadly I am also touched by loved ones that lost their fights. These losses remind me how much more work remains.
This is my 4th SAA Boston Harbor Swim, and my 3rd in memory of my little brother, Eddie. Brilliant, smiling and energetic Eddie.
I had a scare this year. My good buddy, Scott, was diagnosed with similar cancer about 1 year after I was. He breezed through treament, but on his 11 year wellness check up - it was back. Scott is a Squash Player, I dont play Squash, so I swim in his honor. This year, I am raising money in honor of the happiest young woman I know, my cousin Kristy. This past winter she was found to have a return of her Brain Cancer. This research money does support her clinical programs. A few years ago I was talking with a doctor about his work, his work reminded me of my cousin so we spoke about her journey. The Doctor inquired for more details and when he learned her name, he had the brightest smile. Kristy was a patient he would not forget, Kristy's doctors are working tirelessly for her and all of the brave hearts that come into their offices and clinics. These doctors are doing amazing things. Please consider a donation. MGH and Dana Farber are the great hospitals that benefit from my swim and most important, your donations, which go directly to local research doctors, come to the Boston Harbor Hotel, July 12 at 3ish to meet them.
Swim Across America (SAA) is making its way west to east and south to north, soon to arrive in frigid Boston Harbor. I will swim rain or shine, after all my first two swims were in 55-60 degree waters with drizzle, chop and wind, 5 inches of brown algea. Last yeat Friday, July 13 we did have sunshine. I hope May 2019 is no indication of July 2019 weather. Please sun, SHINE!
Your generous donations are the push I need to wake at 5AM and jump off a boat into the dark cold water.
Please consider making a donation. Thanks so much for reading my thoughts and direct all donations using the link below.
