Leading up to Swim Across America this year has been very different for me than relative to in the past.
The theme seems to be TWO.
(Only) TWO thousand yards of swimming between November and June.
TWO broken ribs in April.
And now, TWO family members recently diagnosed with cancer.
Well, considering the first two notables above, I was thinking of not participating in SAA this year.
However, the recent cancer diagnoses of both my father and uncle has certainly made me realize that it’s not just about me, and that I MUST again join in and splash, and make waves in the fight against cancer.
And so, I am incredibly eager and excited to jump into the Boston Harbor on July 12th and swim alongside others as we complete a 22 mile relay swim in the Boston Harbor, from Rowes Wharf to Boston Light, and back. It's an honor to participate as a member of Swim Across America's community, and am proud to know that SAA has granted more than $75M to fund cancer research and clinical trials at world-renowned research institutes throughout our country since it was founded in 1987.
Did you know that in our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer? I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming in the Boston Harbor Swim and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention, and treatment, and will make an impact in our fight against cancer. Yearly, on this extraordinary day, SAA provides checks to both Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Mass General Hospital for Children Cancer Center, and we’d like for the total of these two checks to exceed our goal of $300,000. We are all in this fight together, and I am asking for your support!
Thank you for your consideration and generosity, and may our combined efforts lead to a world where each and every one of us experiences less negative effects of cancer.
