Is there anyone out there who has not been affected by cancer? In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer, and every day it's someone new. Most recently my friend Curtis was diagnosed, I am swimming this relay for him. My grandmother died of breast cancer when I was in college. I am swimming for her. My sister's husband died of lymphoma leaving his wonderful wife and two young children behind. My friend George recently died of esophogal cancer, and there are so many more - too many more. But there are success stories - my strong, beautiful friend Jennifer has survived lung cancer, and incidentally, never smoked a day in her life. I swim for all these amazing people. Cancer knows no boundaries, and despite the world slowing down during the current COVID-19 pandemic, cancer hasn't slowed down one bit.
and Hey! Want to join in the fun? This year you can join our team without a fundraising commitment. Join our team, Team Goldman and Friends, and make the journey across the country with me! All that is required is a $25 registration fee and then you can log activity miles with me. You do not need to swim- miles can be from walking, running, biking, or any activity you do (tennis, boxing, or even gardening). Register here https://www.swimacrossamerica.org/site/TR?fr_id=5522&pg=entry and be sure to join Team Goldman and Friend’s to help our team’s journey.
