Over a year ago my life was completely turned upside down when my dad was diagnosed with oral cancer. My relationship with my dad is extremely special, so to say this was difficult to hear is a huge understatement. Thankfully, with the incredible work of his amazing doctors at Levine he is now healthy and cancer free.
In January, I started a job with an amazing organization called Swim Across America. SAA hosts open water charity swims to raise money for cancer research, prevention and treatment. It just so happens that one of the swims takes place in Charlotte and the money raised goes to Levine Cancer Institute, which is where my father was treated. Doesn’t that just come full circle….
With some encouragement from my family and boss, I am pushing myself to swim a .5-mile alongside my dad in Lake Norman on September 15th at our SAA - Charlotte event. (If you know me, you know this is a very large push as I am not a swimmer by any means). I don’t think there is a better way to honor my dad being 1 year cancer free then participating in this event and raising money for the place that treated him and ultimately gave my family, along with many others, hope.
Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check to Swim Across America, 11600 N. Community House Rd., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28277.
Check should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning my name as the swimmer you are supporting!
