This summer I swim in memory of my college swimming roommate Scott Harris, a long time supporter of my swims for SAA, recently passed July 2nd from acute leukemia.
This is my 20th consecutive year participating in the Chicago SAA. I have come to realize SAA is about finding cures for cancer and WE can make a difference. Participating in the SAA fund raising effort is my way of giving back to the scientists, doctors and patients who went before me and had the cures for my cancers when I needed them. Not only am I alive, but my quality of life as a six time survivor is uncompromised. I owe them much.
But SAA is also about people. As we move through the years, more and more friends and family have been afflicted with cancer and not all of them are with us today. Its for these brave souls I also swim in their honor and memory.
Please support this great cause by sponsoring my swim. Your donation goes to the Swim Across America lab at Rush University Cancer Center for early-stage research and clinical trials for a variety of cancer types.
The money you give today, may be your cure tomorrow.
Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
