Welcome to My Personal Page
Hello!
Did you know that in our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that.
Cancer has impacted my family and many close friends for most of my life. I am certain that many of you are in the same situation. This disease is ugly and very persistent. Most recently (12-1-22) , the Illinois Swimming Community lost a very beloved swim coach and my dear friend, Dan Johnson, after a 13 year battle with prostate cancer. DJ was an amazing man and is missed by so many.
My husband, Bill, has been battling AML since 12-15-20. I lost my cousin, Amy, many years ago just shy of her 14th birthday to neuroblastoma. And unfortunately the list goes on.
I am swimming for everyone affected by cancer. The toll this disease and treatment can take on the patient is often times crippling. Their caregivers, family, and friends, are also faced with all the challenges this disease creates. We have to continue to fight together to help find better treatments, therapies, and cures.
If you are able, please support me by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives. Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure!
