There are quite a few reasons I swim. I'm an Oncology Chaplain and I see quite often the hope that a clinical trial brings a patient. Within an hour of writing this I was called to a patient's room. He was in emotional distress when the nurse called me to visit. Before I got to the room, however, the patient had been given the news by his physician that he would be a good candidate for a trial study. His mood went from emotional distress to jubilation. He had hope.
