Robyn Starnes - Making Waves to Fight Cancer!
Thanks for checking out my page!
If you don't know, I was diagnosed with cancer in 2014. While I was lucky enough to have an easily treatable form of thyroid cancer, not everyone else is so lucky. Since 2015, I've looked for ways to raise money for cancer research...and avoid the health challenges that often come with no longer having a thyroid gland. I'm looking at you, metabolism thief!
This is my 2nd year participating in the 1-mile Open Water Swim with Swim Across America, and I’m excited to make an even bigger fundraising SPLASH this year!
I was able to attend our national leaders conference this year for Swim Across America. Let me tell you....there was not a dry eye in the house as fellow fundraisers shared their stories of why they support SAA - some have been hard at work for 30+ years! I was beyond inspired to DO MORE!
I doubt you know anyone that's NOT been affected by cancer in some way. Whether personally, a family member, friend, coworker or your favorite bartender. Wouldn't it be cool to be part of the generation that turns the corner in the fight? What if after hearing "You have cancer" (the 3 scariest words I've ever been told) - the next 3 words you hear are "And there's hope."
If you are able, please support me by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, the Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at BaylorScott&White is not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives. Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure!
